Voting for Board and Bylaws 2025 Voting

In 2024, members voted to change our name from ICOM MPR, International Committee for Marketing and Public Relations, to ICOM COMMS, International Committee for Marketing, Communications and Audience Engagement. To learn more about the process of voting for the new name, click here.

Now, ICOM COMMS has updated its By-laws with the new name, following the template recommended by the ICOM Secretariat with additional edits. The Secretariat has also approved the update.

Take a moment to check the updated By-laws. If you have any questions, please get in touch with chair.comms @ icom.museum

Voting process

Online voting for the Election of Board Members and Officers (2025-2028) and the updated By- laws with our new name will take place 3-12 November 2025. All members of ICOM COMMS will receive notification via a letter from the Chair, the website, and social media with instructions to vote online. The results of the voting will be announced at the General Assembly on 15 November, during the International Committee Offsite Day of the 27th General Conference in Dubai.

Who can vote, in accordance with the ICOM requirements:

1) Members who are up to date with their membership fees.

2) Members registered in the system as “students” will not count as a valid vote. Sorry.

3) Only members who have designated ICOM COMMS as their International Committee are eligible to vote. We know that some of you have questions about whether you selected COMMS as your main, second, or third IC. So, we are giving you until October 31st to select COMMS and have you in our Committee as a voting member, making our community stronger.

Here’s how to verify if you already selected ICOM COMMS as your IC:

1 – Log in to ICOM’s homepage on My account.

2 – Edit your personal information at the tab My ICOM Committees. Each ICOM member may join up to three (3) International Committees, but only one (1) may be designated as the member’s voting international committee. Members wishing to vote in ICOM COMMS elections must choose ICOM COMMS as their voting International Committee. Members may also designate one (1) or two (2) additional International Committees of interest; however, these do not confer voting rights in the governance or elections of those committees.

We will proceed with an ID check, so be sure to have your ICOM number at hand when voting. Ballots will only be counted if the voter appears on the official membership list of ICOM COMMS.

The voting results will be announced at the General Assembly on 15 November, during the International Committee Offsite Day of the 27th General Conference in Dubai.
